Dreamcatchers …

Ten of us gathered last Sunday at Icarus to create Zentangle Inspired “Dreamcatchers”. Supplies used were the new “5xPhive” white tiles, Sakura gelly roll pens in turquoise and white chalk pens, along with the standard pencils, and tortillion.

The highlight tangle of the Dreamcatcher was the pattern “Dreamcatcher” by D. Lamoth. This one was a challenge, even after I had practiced it for over a week! I still got crossed up while teaching it. The pattern is really pretty, but easy to lose your place if you glance away – at least for some of us. A few got it right away – funny how that happens sometimes!

I instructed them to use leaf shapes for our “feathers”, then filled them with different patterns: Doodah, Shattuck, Flux, Printemps, Fescue, Ahh – all Zentangle HQ patterns. We added Dented Moon by L. Hofer, Barberpole by Suzanne McNeil, and Allium by JJ Barbera. Threw in some orbs and other embellishments to finish the “feathers” off.

The turquoise gelly roll pen was used to add some color to the tile. I think these came out beautifully. Three of the artists were in their first Zentangle class – brought in by friends who have been tangling for quite a while. They all did an awesome job, as well.

The next class will be Sunday, July 14th, 1-3pm at Icarus Creative Arts Studio. The classes are filling up quickly so pre-registration is required. Let me know if you’d like me to save a spot for you!
