Sharing the Zentangle® Art Method in La Jolla & San Diego
This month’s class was inspired by the work of William Morris, who created beautiful fabrics, tapestries, and wallpaper designs. His botanical prints feature gorgeous flowing leaves, flowers, vines, grapes and animals.
For our tile, I chose to include just three patterns – Icanthus and Bronx Cheer (Zentangle), and Ukulele (Jennifer Hohensteiner). We also included a small bird – my creation! The patterns were tangled on the original tile using Sakura Burgundy ink pens. Colored pencils in blues, greens, purples and pinks were used to fill the patterns. Once that was complete, the white space was filled in with black to make the colors pop. This was a fun tile to create, with everyone doing beautiful work.
So many Zentangle patterns can be used in the style of William Morris – I’m ready to see what else I can come up with. I did buy a small 5×5 journal and have started filling it with my botanical “William Morris-inspired” work.
COMING UP … No class in October due to scheduling conflict. Will return to Icarus on Sunday, November 17th from 1-3pm. Classes have been filling up quickly so make your reservation early.
