Sharing the Zentangle® Art Method in La Jolla & San Diego
Today’s class at Icarus Creative Arts Studio featured “Dingsplatz”! As Rick and Maria put it … imagine tossing a handful of patterns up in the air and letting them fall flat on the table – what do you get – a “dingsplat”!
Our first tile was composed on an original 3.5×3.5 tile. Patterns used were knightsbridge, crescent moon, lots of orbs and auras. This showed how a dingsplat can be fairly simple and quick to draw.
The second tile was drawn on an Apprentice tile giving a little more room for the tangling. Patterns used this time were knightsbridge, flux, fescue, rainking, and more orbs and auras! This tile showed how a dingsplat can be more intricate with the framework used more as a string to fill with many patterns.
Shading the patterns really made the artwork jump off the tile. The blank spaces could be filled with so many different patterns, and drawing these dingsplatz is quite addicting!
Connie, the Canine Companion in Training,
came back to class today.
She was so quiet and mostly slept on her comfy blanket
On September 15th, at Icarus, the next class will feature “Diptychs”. This is a two-paneled piece of art. We will create tiles that mirror one side with the other. Might throw in a little color this time just for fun! Sign up early as classes fill fast. Hope to see you in September!
